Mrs. Guy Brownell, 63, Victim of Stroke
Mrs. Vera M. (Barber) Brownell, 63, who suffered a stroke last Thursday night, passed away Sunday at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Dyer. Wife of the late Guy Brownell, she had been employed at the Grant Bros. store here for the past five years. Mr. Brownell died in 1948. Also preceding her in death were twin sons who died in 1928, and a daughter, Jean, who died in 1945.Mrs. Brownell was born Aug. 7, 1892, at Rapid City, Mich. There she met and married Mr. Brownell in 1917. Ten year later the couple moved to Lowell.
Survivors include: son, Jack of Rapid City, Mich., daughter Mrs. Milford Steuer of Cedar Lake, with whom she made her home; sister, Mrs. Ina Anderson of Grand Rapids; brothers, Melphie and Forest Barber, both of Alden, Mich., and Leonard Barber of East Jordon, Mich., and _____ grandchildren.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, ____ in the Eskridge Funeral home with Rev. E.L. Worley of Lowell and Rev. Charles Sites of Cedar Lake officiating. Interment was made in Plum Grove cemetery beside her husband.
