The following Jan. 14, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
- Word received from W.T. Jones, former L.H.S. band director, says he is now Corp. Jones, having been promoted the past week. Corp. Jones is stationed with the U.S. infantry at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas.
This March 25, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
Cpl. W.T. Jones Receives Honorable Discharge
Cpl. W.T. Jones, who has been stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Tex., visited friends here several days last week. He has received an honorable discharge from the army, after spending the past several weeks in the hospital.Another article from the same issue of the paper (page 5, column 4) follows:
- W.T. Jones, who has been serving in the army since last summer, has received his honorable discharge from the army on account of disability. He has returned to Lowell and on Monday assumed his former duties as director of music at Lowell high and grade schools. Keith Gnagy, who has been in charge of the music department at both schools since last fall, resigned and left for his home last week-end to await his call to the service.
This engagement announcement was found in the April 15, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 1, column 6:
- May 16th is the date set for the marriage of Miss Ruth Clark, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wellington A. Clark to W. Theodore Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Jones, of Indianapolis.
Miss Clark is a graduate of Lowell high school and attended Ball State Teachers college at Muncie, where she was a member of Gamma Gamma sorority. For two years she was employed in the offices of the Northern Indiana Public Service Co, at Hammond, and at the present time is with the Lake County Title and Trust Co., of Crown Point.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of the School of Music at Indiana University with the class of 1938, and is a member of Delta Chi fraternity. He is the national secretary of Kappa Psi, national honorary college band fraternity, and is instructor of music in the Lowell schools.
An April 6, 1944, Lowell Tribune article (page 1, column 1) entitled "World War II Vets Installed in Lowell Legion" lists W. Theodore Jones, Infantry, as one of nine honorably discharged World War II soldiers and one WAVE who were installed at Lowell Post 101, American Legion.
