The following April 22, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 4:
    Pfc. Walter Parks, Camp Livingston, La., visited his parents, the Ross Parks, a few days this week.
This May 6, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    It is now Tech. Sergt. Walter Parks, following his promotion recently. He is stationed at Camp Livingston, La.
This excerpt from a Lowell Tribune article dated March 30, 1944, was found on page 2, column 3:
    S/Sgt. Walter Parks, is "somewhere in the Pacific" and although letters come through from him regularly, his last known address was Honolulu where he was stationed last New Year's.
This April 26, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
    With the 38th Infantry on Luzon -- Pfc. Walter B. Parks of Lowell, Ind., is presently on duty in the Philippines with the 38th division, Avengers of Bataan. Pfc. Parks is a member of the 738th Ordnance Co., a unit which is in close support of the infantrymen currently mopping up the remnants of the Jap forces holding out in the foorhills of the Zambales Mountains of Luzon.
    Pfc. Parks was inducted into service in April, 1942. He has been overseas since December 1943, having served in the Hawaiian Islands and in New Guinea prior to his present service in the Philippines. He has been awarded the American Defense Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with two combat stars and the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.
    His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Parks, live on rural route 2, Lowell.
In an August 23, 1945, Lowell Tribune article (page 5, column 3) about Donald Jay Skillman's birthday, Walter Parks was listed as one of the guests. It mentioned that he had just been discharged after serving 4 1/2 years, 2 years overseas.

This article from the Times (Mar. 1, 1992) can be found in the Local History Files at Lowell Public Library (LH--Vital Statistics, vol. 3, page 20):
    Walter E. Parks, age 73, of Lowell, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 27, 1992 at St. Anthony Hospital. He is survived by three sons, Thomas (Robin) Parks of Crown Point, Walter G. (Sarah) Parks of Chugiak, Alaska and Patrick Parks of Lowell; one daughter, Linda (Ralph) Henderson of Chugiak, Alaska; five grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Parks of Mobile, Alabama and Harvey Parks of South Carolina; five sisters, Rose Fleener of Lowell, Madeline Zander of Lowell, Theresa Hess of Cedar Lake, Shirley Grimes of Texas and Alma Pralle of Crete, Illinois. Preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1989.
    Funeral services will be conducted from the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, Indiana at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 with Father Thomas Mischler officaiting. Burial will be at St. Edward Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Monday 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Mr. Parks was a World War II veteran; former employee of the DuPont Chemical Company and retired from Lever Brothers after 22 years; Life Member of V.F.W. Post #6841 of Lowell; Honorary Life Member of St. Anthony's Red Coats; member of the Lowell Senior Citizens Club, A.A.R.P., Shelby Odd Fellows and American Legion Post #101 of Lowell.
