Transferred to Texas Base
Word has been received by the D.C. Hamachers that their son, Lieut. Wendell Hamacher has been transferred from Ft. Riley, Kansas, to San Antonio, Texas.This January 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 2:
- Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Hamacher have received word of the birth of another grandson, born to Captain and Mrs. Wendell C. Hamacher on Jan. 14th. He was christened David Milo.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 6, 1944, issue (page 2, column 4):
- Word of Capt. Wendell Hamacher states that he has arrived safely overseas.
The following May 25, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 6, column 1:
- Latest news from Captain Wendell Hamacher, who is stationed in Italy, is that he has been temporarily assigned the post of Judge Advocate.

Lt. Hamacher Transferred
Lt. Wendell Hamacher, son of the D.C. Hamachers, Lake Dalecarlia, who has been overseas since the first of February, has been transferred to the headquarters of Judge Advocate. He entered the service before Pearl Harbor, had retired, and was coming home Dec. 7, 1941, to resume the practice of law in his office at Crown Point when he was recalled to duty and has served with the Judge Advocate sections in the liberated countries.Return to World War II Veterans
