Another Pensioner Gone

Since our last issue news has come from Lowell of the death and burial of Wilkes Wiley, of that place, who was well known throughout the south half of the county. He was a soldier of Co. A, 99th Indiana Regiment, and walked with Sherman's troops on their famous March to the Sea. He has been in very poor health -- almost helpless -- the past few years, caused by paralysis, and was drawing the largest pension in his neighborhood. During his whole life he was a whole-souled, liberal-minded man, and wherever he was known his friends were numerous. He passed away on Friday of last week and was about 66 years of age. He leaves a wife and several grown children.
