This Jan. 25, 1934 Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 6, column 2:
- William H. Belshaw was born in Lake county, Ind., on the farm where the town of Belshaw is now located, on June 1, 1854. He departed this life January 15, 1934, having reached the age of 79 years, 7 months and 15 days. He was the son of Henry and Mary Belshaw, the fifth child of a family of nine. All his life was spent in Lake county, except two years spent in Oregon and three years spent in Chicago.
On October 21, 1879, he was united in marriage to Margaret J. Connor. To this happy union three children were born: Blanche and George, and Jay, who died in early childhood. He made the good confession and was baptized by C.J. Sharp.
On October 21, 1929, he and his wife had the privilege of celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. This was a very happy occasion for all the family and remains a very pleasant memory.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, Margaret J. Belshaw; one brother, C.J. Belshaw, of Crown Point; one sister, Candace Dinwiddie, of Hammond; two children, Blanche Vinnedge, of Crown Point, and George H. Belshaw, of Gary; also, four grand children and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Shelby Christian church, Thursday, January 18, conducted by Jacob K. Woerner. Interment in the Sanders cemetery in charge of Sheets & Son.
