William Pettibone, Sr.
Wm. Pettibone, Sr. Dead
Thursday morning of this week, about 5 o'clock, a.m., Wm. Pettibone, Sr., closed his eyes to earthly scenes at the advanced age of 81 years, 7 months and 13 days.Wm. Pettibone is the last one to go of the three brothers; David, Harvey and William, the father dying in 1881 at the age of 91 years. The family of three boys were all born at Naples, Ontario County, New York, and came to Indiana when young men. They were a long lived race and the combined age of the father and three sons was 331 years. The father 91, David 82, William 81, Harvey 77.
The deceased was married early and a son and daughter (twins) survive him, his wife having died in 1882. The son is an engineer on a Texas railroad and the daughter a resident of Chicago. Domestic trouble long since separated his family, and the nearest relatives to attend his funeral will perhaps be his nephews and nieces who reside in Crown Point. His life has all been spent in New York and Michigan where he lived several years, and in this county.
He died in his own house, on North Street, where he was being cared for by John Sears and family, and the remains were taken during the day to Mrs. Harvey Pettibone's residence on Court Street, where the funeral will be held Friday at 2 o'clock.
