Lowell, Early 1900’s

Lowell, Early 1900's

Placeholder

This rare, early 1900's photograph shows a view eastward from W. Commercial Ave. and Parkview St. On the right is the John Miller blacksmith shop, now a restaurant, and farther up the street, on the right, the present (1986) Hitzeman Haus building. The old William Tramm building can be glimpsed behind the trees on the left. There are several buggies in sight, and in the distance is a street light hanging from a cable strung across the street.

Photo, found in a Crete, Ill., collection, is courtesty of Carol E. Triebold and Ed Snell.
