The following Sept. 14, 1961, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 2:

Max Ragon, Lowell Native, Dies in Ohio

Max L. Ragon, 62, a native of Lowell, died very suddenly Sept. 6 at his home in Dayton, Ohio. He was stricken with a fatal heart attack as he and his wife were leaving to attend a church service.

Mrs. Ragon is the former Elsie McConnell, who also was born and reared here.

A veteran of World War I, Max served two terms as Commander of the Lowell Legion Post 101, in 1927 and 1928.

For a number of years he was a rural mail carrier here, then was transferred to the Dyer post office. He resigned to accept a position with the Erie railroad in Hammond, and some years ago he moved to Dayton, where he held a position in the office of the Pennsylvania railroad company.

The son of the late Len W. and Hurley (Lee) Ragon, Max was born in Lowell April 12, 1899, and was graduated from Lowell high school. His father was a former publisher of the Lowell Tribune, which was founded by his grandfather H.H. Ragon more than 76 years ago.

Memorial services and burial were in Dayton, Sept. 9.

Surviving besides his wife are a daughter Mrs. Ritter (Jean) Collitt of Dayton, two grandchildren, a sister Mrs. Baron (Azealia) Richards of Hammond, and other relatives in this area.
