Virgil H. "Virg" Love
- Mrs. John Love, of Schneider, spent Sunday, last week, with her son, Virgil Love, S 1/c, who is taking an electrical course at Purdue University. Virgil has three more weeks to complete the course, and then probably will go aboard one of Uncle Sam's battle wagons.

Graduated from Electrical School
After attending the electrical school at Purdue university the past four months, Petty Officer Virgil Love, son of the John Loves, of Schneider, was graduated last Thursday. He will visit his parents, and other relatives a few days after which he will go to New York City. A family dinner will be given in his honor at his parents home next Sunday.This January 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- The John Loves of Schneider, recently received a number of souvenirs as well as letters, from their son, Virgil Love, E 2/c, who is with the U.S. fleet in the Pacific. Virg, who works on the ship's communications system, says he is gaining weight and is O.K. in every way.
This April 6, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
- The John Loves of Schneider, have received a scroll from their son, Virgil H. Love, Electrician 2/c, who is aboard ship "somewhere in the Pacific," showing that he is now a member of the Ancient Order of the Deep, a sailors' organization. Virg. said he was getting along fine.
This July 13, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Writes Parents from Pacific
Electrician 2/c Virgil Love, who is with the U.S. fleet in the south Pacific, writes his parents, the John Loves, of Schneider, that all is well with him and not to let anyone tell them the Japs are not being cleaned up on the many islands they occupied, because the navy is giving them the licking they so justly deserve.The following October 5, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:

Writing his parents, the John Loves, E 1/c Virgil Love said they recently had a change of weather in the Pacific war zone where he is stationed aboard ship. Virg said the change was hotter weather. He said he was getting along fine and that they had been kept busy lately helping shell the Japs.This Lowell Tribune article was found in the April 26, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
- Virgil "Virg" Love, E.M. 1/c, is spending a two weeks' leave from aboard a U.S. cruiser, with his parents, the John Loves at Schneider, and other relatives and friends in this community. Virg has been overseas with the navy over one and a half years, and this is his first visit home in that time. His ship is now in dry dock in California for repairs.
This May 10, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 3:
- In honor of Mrs. John Love, whose birthday occurred on May 6, and her son, Virgil, E.M. 1/c, who was home on leave from his duties aboard a U.S. destroyer, a birthday dinner was served at the Love home in Schneider, Sunday of last week. At the noon hour a delicious chicken dinner was enjoyed, with the remainder of the day spent in visiting.
- Guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Otto Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Camus and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Love and Phyllis, "Mac" Osby, all of Schneider; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Love and sons of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Love of Hammond, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Canfield of Crown Point, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Sladek and Joyce of St. John, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Martin and family of Shelby and Miss Bonnie Mae Yates of Chicago.
