The following April 22, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 4:
    Corp. William Solomon, stationed at Camp Chaffee, Ark., is spending a few days here visiting friends and relatives.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the July 19, 1945, issue (page 2, column 2):
    Cpl. William H. Solomon, stationed near Munich, Germany, has been transferred from the 7th army to the 3rd. He also served with the 5th army in Italy before going to the 7th, with which group he was in the invasion of southern France. He now has 88 points to his credit.

The following article from an unidentified newspaper was found in Town Historian Richard Schmal's obituary collection:
    William H. "Jake" Solomon, age 79, of Lowell, passed away Friday, October 16, 1998. He is survived by: one brother, Delbert Solomon of Hobart; one sister, Doris Solomon of Hammond; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 21, at Sheets Funeral Home in Lowell, with Pastor Kevin Gardner officiating, following visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Orchard Grove Cemetery in Lowell. Jake Solomon was a military veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater, and a charter member of VFW Post #6841 in Lowell and AMVETS Post #15 in Cedar Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lowell Healthcare Center.
