This March 23, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 2:

    FAMILY DINNER GIVEN FOR TWO STUPPY BROTHERS

    A family dinner was given Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Stuppy in honor of their two sons, Robert of Rensselaer and Murray of Indianapolis, who will soon enter the armed forces. All members of the family were present except the Edgar Stuppys of Hammond, who spent Saturday with the family, and two brothers, Gilbert and Halvor, who are stationed in England.
    Present were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Geesa and son Freddie, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bundy and daughters, Marilyn and Sandra, all of Valparaiso; Mr. and Mrs. Murray Stuppy and daughter Elaine, of Indianapolis; Mrs. William Buchanan and son "Skipper" of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stuppy and daughter, Roberta of Rensselaer; Mrs. Gilbert Stuppy and Mrs. Lela Brown of Lowell.
    An enjoyable day was spent in visiting and taking pictures.

An April 13, 1944, Lowelll Tribune article (page 4, column 1) about Halvor and Gilbert Stuppy adds:
    The Stuppys' youngest son, Murray, was inducted in the army Monday, April 10th.
An article on page 5, column 4 further adds:
    Murray Stuppy of Indianapolis, spent several days here last week with his parents, the Ed Stuppys. He left for army service Monday.

The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
    Two of the four sons of the Ed Stuppys, who are in the service, are home on furlough: Gilbert, stationed with the Seabees in Ireland and England the past two years and Pfc. Murray, with the transportation corps in Wyoming. Murray's wife and daughter are here from Columbus, Ohio, to be with him. Cpl. Halvor Stuppy is at present participating in the invasion of Holland and Pvt. Robert Stuppy is in New York.

This February 8, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
    Stuppy Brothers Write
    A letter from Pvt. Murray Stuppy, son of the Ed Stuppys, says he is in England and getting along O.K. He went across in December.
    Cpl. Halvor (Bub) Stuppy writes from Belgium that his outfit is resting at present and that they are staying near a famous resort in that country. "Bub," a member of the 82nd airborne division which has taken a lot of punishment on the German front, has seen some of the severest fighting on the western front.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the May 23, 1946, issue (page 1, column 2):
    Murray Stuppy arrived home last week, after serving 16 months in the E.T.O. as a member of the 746th Ry. Opn. Btn. He is the last of the four sons sons of the Ed. Stuppys to be discharged from service.

The following article from an unidentified newspaper was found in Town Historian Richard Schmal's obituary collection:
    Murray V. Stuppy, age 70, a lifelong resident of Cedar Lake, passed away at home Fri., May 15, 1992. Preceded in death by his parents and several sisters and brothers, he is survived by: his wife, Anne; two daughters, Elaine (Raymond) Solberg of Grafton, West Virginia, and Karen (James) Day of Cedar Lake; one sister, Bette Buchanan of Indianapolis; two brothers, Edgar (Rachel) Stuppy of Hammond, and Gilbert (Rowena) Stuppy of Escondido, California; four grandsons, Richard Solberg, Michael (Sally) Solberg, Gregory and Adam Walkowiak, all of Cedar Lake; one granddaughter, Leslie Gentry of Cedar Lake; and one great-grandson, Michael Solberg of Cedar Lake. Services were conducted from Burdan Funeral Home in Cedar Lake on May 19 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Hicks, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Schererville, officiating. Burial followed in Lowell Memorial Park in Lowell. Murray Stuppy was a steelworker retired from Inland Steel, a member of the Inland 25-Year Club and a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local No. 1010. A veteran, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
