Edward George "Ed" Ceiga
- Mrs. Lee of our local draft board informs us that names of draftees will not be published until after induction. However, some names have unofficially reached our desk. Fellows called to report in Indianapolis for examination day, are Gilbert Dewes, who has since his call, enlisted in the air corps, Bill Jonelis, Homer Allie, Ed Ceiga, and Jack Riggs.

- Pfc. and Mrs. Edward Ceiga spent several days last week in State College, Pa., where they visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Ceiga. Mr. Ceiga is a professor of music at State College. On their return from Pennsylvania, Mr. and Mrs. Ceiga visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gallina and family in Berwyn, Illinois. Mrs. Gallina is the former Jeanette Kimmet. Pfc. Ceiga, who was on a ten day furlough, has now returned to duty at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.

- Spending the day at the army base at Camp Atterbury, Sunday, were Mrs. Essie Flatt, Doris Studer, Don Flatt and Mrs. Edward Ceiga. They visited Pfc. Edward Ceiga and Pfc. Dean Hamilton, both of whom are stationed there. Dean is still hospitalized at the camp, from wounds received in Korea last October.

- Pfc. Dean Hamilton spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Andy McKeon and family, and has now returned to Camp Atterbury. Also home for the weekend was Pfc. Edward Ceiga. Mrs. Ceiga is the former Jane Kimmett.

Lowell G.I. Participating In Big Maneuvers
Pfc. Edward George Ceiga of Lowell has arrived at Fort Bragg, N. C., with the 28th Infantry Division and is taking part in the huge exercise, "Southern Pine," now in progress on the sprawling maneuver area there.Southern Pine, a joint Army-Air Force exercise, is the largest routine training maneuver of its type to be held in the United States since World War II. One of the largest units taking part is the 28th Division, former Pennsylvania National Guard Division, which completed nearly a year of training at Camp Atterbury, Indiana. The maneuvers will continue until September 2.
Ed, a graduate of Whiting high school and State College, Pa., serves the 28th Division as a Bandsman. Before entering the service, February 2, 1950, he was employed as a clerk-typist. His wife, the former Jane Kimmet, is clerk for the White Advertising Co. in Shelby.
His parents are Mr. and Mrs. George E. Ceiga of R.F.D. 1, State College, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ceiga of West Main St. are his grandparents.

- Cpl. Edward Ceiga is enjoying a two weeks furlough from Camp Atterbury, after which he is scheduled for overseas duty in Europe. Mrs. Ceiga is the former Jane Kimmet.
The following October 4, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:
- Cpl. Ed Ceiga returned to camp Atterbury Saturday, concluding a two week furlough spent with his wife, the former Jane Kimmet, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ceiga of West Main street, and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Ceiga accompanied him to Indianapolis, where they spent the weekend. Ed, who plays in the concert and marching bands, expects to leave for Munich, Germany, soon. Upon his return to Camp Atterbury, Ed delivered to the wounded Korean veterans hospitalized there, 532 magazines and books sent by the Mothers of World War II organization.

- Cpl. Edward Ceiga spent the weekend at home and has now returned to Camp Atterbury, where he is awaiting overseas duty.

- Cpl. Edward Ceiga embarked Tuesday for overseas duty in Germany. Cpl. Ceiga is a member of the 28th Infantry Division Band which marched in the review in Philadelphia this past weekend, prior to embarkation.
