Ben Clemens, Jr.
- Ben Clemens, Jr., was surprised with a birthday party in honor of his 15th birthday, on Feb. 11th. After lunch, games were played, later bowling at Mann's. He received many cards and gifts. Miss Bette Clemens was home to attend the party.

- A party was held Saturday night at the pavillion in Ahlgrim's Park, honoring several of the local boys who are leaving for service with the armed forces. The guests were Sparky Hall, Dick Uhter, Ben Clemens, and Jim Guettner. Approximately 100 guests were present to bid the boys good bye, and following the dancing enjoyed by everyone, refreshments were served. Each of the honored guests received a parting gift.

- Mrs. Helen Clemens, accompanied by her son John and Miss Dorothy Miller and Donald "Skinny" Stowell, motored to Camp Atterbury last Sunday to visit Ben Clemens who is stationed there. Ben obtained a pass for the day and the group enjoyed visiting points of interest and the Service Man's Club in Indianapolis.
This October 4, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
- Cpl. Ben Clemens, who is enjoying a 15-day furlough at home will leave Nov. 15 for Germany.
The following July 31, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Pvt. Ben Clemens of the 28th division, stationed in Germany since November, reveals interesting information about places visited during a 5-day furlough at Paris, France, and 3 days at Munich, Germany.
This Aug. 20, 1953, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 2:
Four Sons in Service
Pvt. Joe Clemens, who enlisted in the Army August 3rd, is now stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for basic training. He informs his mother, Mrs. Helen Clemens of Shelby, that he has been assigned to the 5th Heavy Tank Battalion of the 6th Armored Div.Mrs. Clemen's son Ben is with the 28th Division in Germany, John is with Ordnance in France and Roy (an enlistee) is serving with the 430th Engineers in Korea. Roy has been in Korea one year.
