Leslie C. Hathaway (1891-1926)

The following August 5, 1926, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 6:
Leslie C., son of Mahlon and Barbara Hathaway, was born in West Creek township, January 20, 1891. With his parents he moved to Roanoke, Indiana, in 1916. February 6, 1918, he was married to Miss Grace Dustman.

He was a faithful member of the Methodist church since boyhood. He leaves his wife and one son three and a half years old [to] mourn their loss. He also leaves surviving members of his family, his father, mother, one brother and four sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins.

Leslie Hathaway was a young man of excellent character. He had many friends at Roanoke and in his old home neighborhood in West Creek township.

Leslie served his country in the World war and saw service overseas. During his service his health became impaired and he has had poor health most of the time since his discharge from the service. He suffered a great deal all the time.

The funeral service was held at Roanoke last Saturday, several of his relatives from here attending. Cousins of the deceased were pallbearers of whom the following went over from this county: Earl Bailey, Ray Bailey, Merritt Bailey, Harry Hathaway and Clayton Belshaw.
