The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Carl Schmelter Buys Randolph Auto Sales

    Randolph Auto Sales has been purchased by Carl Schmelter of Crown Point, who took over operation last week.

    Mr. Randolph established the Dodge-Plymouth Agency here 31 years ago and has been a prominent Lowell businessman for 35 years. He and Mrs. Randolph left Wednesday for a vacation in Florida.

    The agency is now known as the Schmelter Auto Sales. Mr.Schmelter has previously been associated with auto agencies, having sold Mercury, Buick and Pontiac cars. He is retaining the same employees and in addition __ck Schafer of Cedar Lake is joining the sales staff.

    Mr. and Mrs. Schmelter and children, Patricia, David, Daniel and Stephen will move to Lowell. Patricia will enter fifth grade and David is a first grade pupil.

    Lowell extends the Schmelters a warm welcome and well wishes for continued business success.
