JOHN H. SHURTE IS FOUND DEAD
SUCCUMBS TO HEART ATTACK LAST THURSDAY NIGHT.
FORMERLY LIVED HERE
It was with a feeling of deep regret that our citizens learned last Friday morning that John H. Shurte, a former Lowell boy, had been found dead in front of his daughter's home at Downer's Grove, Ill. Apparently he had been dead for several hours, death being caused from a heart attack.
He had been working at his trade of printer in Chicago and had come home on a late train, and it is supposed that he was hurrying home when he was stricken. He was discovered by a neighbor who notified the police.
The deceased was born and raised here, learned his trade, and for several years worked on the Lowell Tribune. After he was married he and his wife moved to Downers Grove, Ill., where he has since resided and worked in Chicago most of the time.
He is survived by his daughter Mrs. Arthur Phelps, with whom he made his home at Downers Grove; his mother, Mrs. Libbie Shurte, one sister, Mrs. Arthur Fuller, and two brothers, Will and Lewis Shurte, all of Lowell.
Funeral services were held from his late home at Downers Grove on Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the West Side cemetery at Downers Grove.
