A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as coming from the June 5, 1924, Lowell Tribune, was found in the Lowell Public Library's clipping files:
A reunion of the Childress family was held on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Childress in West Creek Township. Mr. and Mrs. Childress enjoyed having their thirteen children all at home at this time, with the twenty-two grandchildren and nine "in-laws" and with their father, John Childress, who is 93 years of age, the gathering was complete. The youngest member of the party was Shirley Ann Keithly, two months old. A long table was spread on the porch and the family of forty-seven members ate dinner together. A picture of the group was taken in the afternoon by Mr. Hard, of Crown Point. Ice cream and cake was served in the afternoon and all voted the Childress Family Reunion a very delightful affair.

The following March 8, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
After being delayed by illness, we wish to thank our many friends through the Tribune for the many lovely congratulatory cards we received on our 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Childress.

The following July 31, 1952, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 2:
