Wilbur M. "Squeaky" "Squeak" Hegnauer
- Pfc. Wilbur "Squeaky" Hegnauer has completed his training at Lowery Field, Denver, Colo., and is spending 28 days with home folks.
A December 27, 1951, Lowell Tribune article (page 2, column 1) listed Wilbur Heganauer as one of many servicemen from the Lowell vicinity arriving home for the holidays. (Note that the last name in this article has a different spelling than the surname in the first article.)
This April 17, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 3, column 3:
- Mrs. Vesper Beier received a letter from W.M. Hegnauer, "Squeak" to his friends here, and he is now stationed just outside Pusan. He reports the weather is very nice and he is in good health.
The following August 28, 1952, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 2, column 3:
- From Nagorja, Japan, comes news of two local servicemen, Wilbur "Squeak" Hegnauer, and Shirl Snyder, who met at Nagorja airport while waiting for their planes. Shirl had flown from his station at Itazuke Island, off Kyusu, Japan, with the base softball team, to participate in a seven-day tournament with other Japanese bases. After taking second place in the tourney, Shirl was waiting to board a plane to Itazuke when he met "Squeak" who was returning to Korea after a short leave spent in Japan. After much reminiscing, pictures were taken and the boys departed for their respective bases. "Squeak" anticipates being sent back to the U.S. very soon.
