Herbert "Tom" Poer (born 1910)
- Pvt. Tom Poer, stationed at Camp Phillips, Texas, has been here the past several days on a ten-day furlough. He will be transferred to another base when he returns to camp. His parents, the J.E. Poers, of Bryan, Ohio, former residents here, spent days last week here with him.
The following June 22, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
- Sgt. Herbert (Tom) Poer, who has been stationed with the infantry at Camp McCain, Miss., for several months, arrived home last Thursday for a visit with friends and relatives. At the conclusion of his furlough he will report to an embarkation point for duty overseas.
The following June 29, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 4:
- While Sgt. Tom Poer was here on furlough, he and his brother, Gene, and family enjoyed a week-end visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Poer, at Bryan, Ohio.
