Elizabeth Theresa "Bessie" Peterson Bisig
Elizabeth Theresa "Bessie" Peterson Bisig was born in Lowell on Jan. 5, 1881, the daughter of George F. Peterson and Mary Adeline (nee Lawrence) Hess. Mary Adeline Lawrence had one child (Emma J. born in 1870) by her first husband, Peter Hess. After he died in a farm accident, she married George F. Peterson, and they had nine children together. Their daughter Elizabeth, also known as "Bessie," was the fifth child of Mary Adeline, following Emma J., James Henry, Owen, and Harry.
This information and photo comes from Rochelle Ellen Bisig Gereg (great-granddaughter of George F. Peterson and Mary Adeline Lawrence) and Robert Bisig Horner (grandson of George F. Peterson and Mary Adeline). Mrs. Gereg adds, "My Aunt Emma was so happy to finally get a baby sister, she told me she just jumped up and down on the bed."
Bessie Peterson later married Charles John Bisig.
