The following August 9, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 7, column 3:
    Guests at the homes of the W.J. Burnells and C.F. Algers for three days this week were: Mrs. Beulah Burnell and sons, Ralph, Aviation Chief Machinists' Mate, and Lloyd; Mrs. Charles Umbekaunt, all of Maywood, and Mrs. Dale Burnell and baby, Mary June, of Ardmore, Okla. Chief Burnell is enjoying 30 days leave from the U.S.S. Langley, having served in the Pacific for 22 months, participating in ten major engagements.

The following September 6, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 3:
    Aviation Chief Machinist's Mate Ralph Burnell and wife, of Maywood, and Cpl. Dale Burnell, stationed at Ardmore, Okla., spent a few days visiting the W.J. Burnells and C.F. Algers.
