This Sept. 11, 1985, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 4, column 7:
    Auther P. Snyder, age 78, of Lowell, passed away Sat., Sept. 7, 1985, at Lake Holiday Manor in DeMotte. He is survived by his wife, Alta; two sons, Shirl (Joan) Snyder of DeMotte, and Harold (Joan) Snyder of Lowell; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Iola (Gerold) Vergin of Valparaiso, and Belle Steinhilber of South Bend. He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Barth, and one brother, Lawrence "Sy" Snyder. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Sept. 10 at the Sheets-Love Funeral Home in Lowell, with Dr. Richard C. Thistle officiating. Burial followed at Lowell Memorial Cemetery. Arthur Snyder had retired after over 25 years with Combustion Engineering, Inc. of East Chicago and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lowell.
Obituaries in the Hammond Times and the Post Tribune were similar to this one. Cemetery records put the date of his marriage as Nov. 24, 1926.
