August J.H. Einspahr
- My Civil War ancestor was August Einsphar. He was born in Germany and came to the United States with his family when he was about 12 years old. They settled in what was Blue Island, Ill. He was drafted into the army (did not go willingly). He served with the 31 Illinois Company K and received an honorable discharge. After the war he bought a farm and settled outside of Lowell.
I have his service records, or at least what the national archives had, which was not to much. He was in the battle of Vicksburg and with Sherman when he made his march to the sea. He fought against my southern ancestor during the battle of Atlanta.
