The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    August Voltmer, 94, Dies At Clark Home

    August Voltmer, 94, a retired farmer, passed away October 20, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Donald Clark, at Momence, Ill. Mr. Voltmer was born near Sollitt on October 28, 1861. He made his home in Beecher, Ill. until the death of his wife. Since that time he has lived with his children.

    Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edgar Stoeven of Beecher, Ill., Mrs. Edwin Frahm of Lowell, and Mrs. Donald Clark of Momence, Ill. Also five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, at 1:30 p.m., in the Hack Chapel, followed by services at the Zion parish hall at Beecher. Burial was in St. Paul cemetery at Petersburg, Ill.
