The following February 8, 1951, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 5:
ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT
Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Werblo of Crown Point announce the engagement of their niece, Mabel Voltmer, to Robert V. Ferguson, son of Mrs. C.W. Ferguson of Michigan Shores, Michigan City. Mabel, a graduate of Lowell high school, was secretary in the office [of] L.H.S. Principal R.J. Brannock before she entered South Bend College of Commerce. Since her graduation she has been secretary to H. Wietbrock, business representative for the American Federation of Labor in Gary.Her fiancé, a graduate of Hirsch high school, Chicago, is now with the Armed Services, stationed at Camp Breckinridge, Ky.
No definite date has been set for the wedding.
