The following April 28, 1921, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 8, column 1:

    Birthday Surprise

    Monday, April 25, being C.N. Barber's birthday, his daughter Irene planned a surprise for him and it surely was a surprise. The evening was spent in games, music and social chat. At about 12 o'clock a two course luncheon was served, which consisted of sandwiches, pickles, coffee, cake, ice-cream and candy.

    Those present were Messrs and Mesdames Charles Taylor, Ike Griffith, Richard Scritchfield, Robert Scritchfield, August Miller, Harry Holmes, Ed Meyers, Arthur Miller; Mrs. M.A. Nichols, Aline Scritchfield, Lyrell Taylor, Edith, Evelyn and Randall Meyers, Murray Holmes, Burdette Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. C.N. Barber and daughter Irene.
