August Friedrich Miller (1868-1940)
Farm House Burned
- The home on the old J. W. Hole farm in Eagle Creek township, now owned by August Miller was burned Sunday. The origin of the fire is unknown. The neighbors responded to the call for help, but the fire had such a start when they got there that it was impossible to save the house and it was a total loss. Albin Stolberg, living on the farm had most of his household goods destroyed. The loss of both on the house and the contents is partially covered by insurance.

- August Miller, 72 years of age, passed away at his home here yesterday morning at 5 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Saturday at 2 p.m. standard time.

- OBITUARY
- August F. Miller, oldest son of August and Louisa Miller, was born January 10, 1868 in West Creek Twp., and departed this life at his home in Lowell on September 11, 1940 at the age of 72 years, 8 months, 1 day.
- On January 28, 1890 he was united in marriage to Ellen Oster and to this union was born 4 children: Laura, Arthur, Walter and Lucille; his son Arthur preceded him in death on March 4, 1939.
- Early in life Mr. Miller united with the German Methodist church at Lake Prarie; later he placed his membership with the Lowell M.E. Church.
- Mr. Miller has spent his entire life in the vicinity and was engaged in farming until he moved with his family to Lowell.
- He was a member of the town board for eight years.
- He leaves to mourn his departure: his wife, Ellen; his three children, Laura Stahl, Walter and Lucille Randolph, all of Lowell; also 13 grand-children and 4 great-grand-children; three brothers, Fred of California; George of Lowell and Albert of South Dakota; five sisters, Minnie Miller of Odebolt, Iowa, Lena Lindermer of Lowell, Emma Miller, Anna Hayden, Ella Harrington all of California, and many other neices, nephews, and friends.
- Funeral services were held Saturday, September 14 at the Methodist Church at 2 p.m., Rev. E.L. Worley, minister in charge, assisted by Rev. Hargrave, burial in Plum Grove Cemetery in charge of Kenneth Sheets.
