- Sorry I haven't written before, but I have been very busy. We are through at the rifle range and are at the main base now--arrived here last night. Our schedule has been changed and I won't get a furlough until March 13. I got the cigarettes and $5.

Returns to Camp Lejune
After spending last week with his parents, the Floyd Stowells, at Shelby, Pvt. Charles F. Stowell left on Sunday for his base at Camp Lejune, N.C.This August 16, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Arrived Safely Overseas
The Floyd Stowells have received a letter from their son, Pvt. Charles Stowell, saying that he has landed safely overseas. At the time of writing he was feeling fine.The Stowell's other son, T/2 Robert, is now stationed at Treasure Island, Calif.
