The following article appeared in the March 8, 1934, issue of the Lowell Tribune (page 4, column 5):

    MRS. ELIZABETH BERG CALLED

    Mrs. Elizabeth Berg, one of our most highly esteemed citizens, passed away at her home last Friday after a short illness. Funeral services were held at St. Edward church, on Monday at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Edward cemetery.

This March 15, 1934, Lowel Tribune obituary appeared on page 3, column 4:
    Elizabeth Beihn was born on a farm in Will county, Ill., near Dyer, Ind., May 10, 1853. She was united in marriage to Nicholas Berg in 1873. To this union six children were born: Tracy (Mrs. Fred Schmal) and Frank, both preceding her in death; George, of Glendale, California; Mary (Mrs. Henry Heiser), Ida (Mrs. Bird Viant) and Ed., all of Lowell.

    Mrs. Berg had been a resident of Lowell for many years and was a lady who was highly respected by all who knew her.

    Death was caused by a heart attack on Sunday morning, February 25th from which she never recovered, passing away on Thursday, March 1st, in a sleep caused from a stroke of Tuesday night.

    Funeral services were held from St. Edward church, on March 5th, Rev. Father Kroger saying the high mass and preaching the funeral discourse. The pall bearers were the following grandsons: Robert Schmal, Justin Viant, Franklin Berg, Florian Heiser, Hugh Hutton and Ed. Beckman. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends attended the funeral from California, Chicago, Hammond, Crown Point, Dyer, Gary and Hebron. Interment was in charge of Weaver & Son.
