MARY LITTLE AND PFC. FLETCHER LAIN MARRIED
The Lake Prairie church, decorated with beautiful fall flowers, was the scene of a candle light wedding Friday evening at 8 p.m., Sept. 28, when Mary Virginia Little became the bride of Pfc. Fletcher W. Lain, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lain of North Judson.Lewis Lain, brother of the groom and Richard Little, cousin of the bride, were ushers.
C/N Faith Grabill of Hobart, sang "Because" and "Always," accompanied by Mrs. Eileen Regnier at the piano.
Preceding the bride was Sally Little as maid of honor, attired in a pink formal with blusher veil and carrying yellow roses.
The bride, attired in a fingertip veil and white taffeta wedding gown carrying a bridal bouquet of white chrysanthemums and yellow roses, was led to the altar by her father, Earl Little, to the strains of Lohengrin's wedding march. There she was met by the groom, in uniform. Steward Lain served his brother as best man.
Rev. Brumbaugh performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of 175 relatives and guests.
A wedding reception for all was held in the church basement immediately after the ceremony. Misses Carol Hudson and Louise Bailey resided at the bride's table and Miss Bonnie Brownell assisted in serving the four tiered wedding cake. The ladies of the church Circle assisted Mrs. Emarine Little in serving.
After opening their many lovely gifts the happy couple left amid showers of rice and confetti for a short honeymoon, after which the new Mrs. Lain will return to her nurses' training at Gary Methodist hospital. Fletcher having served 18 months overseas, will return to a camp in Alabama following a 30-day furlough.
Guests came from North Judson, Indiana, Chicago, Downers Grove, Ill., Hammond, Gary, Hebron, Lake Village, Claypool, Peru, and Kentland, Indiana.
