Geneva Stilson Garrison (1853-1929)

- Mrs. Geneva Stilson Garrison was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosanna Stilson, being born August 23, 1853, at Creston, Ind., she departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M.H. Hoevet, at Waterford, Wis., January 4, 1929, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 12 days.
On May 31, 1868, Miss Geneva Stilson was united in marriage to James Garrison and to this union were born four children, one son and three daughters, all of whom survive the mother's going.
It was while in her early youth that she heard the Master's call and united with the Creston M.E. church and she held this to be her faith till now she must join the throng of the saints of other days.
Practically all her entire life was spent about Lowell, Indiana, and most of the old settlers about here knew her very well. It was in the year 1908, and on January 8th, almost 21 years ago, that the father and companion met the summons.
Those surviving the mother's going are: One son, William R. Garrison, of Butte, Montana; three daughters, Mrs. Tressie Hogan, of Lowell, Ind., Mrs. Luella Tanner, of Butte, Montana, Mrs. Millie A. Hoevet, of Waterford, Wisconsin; four grand children, 1 great grand child; one brother, Warren Stilson, of Cedar Lake, Indiana; besides those thus named she leaves a host of other relatives and many friends who will miss her in her going.
Funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Silas Hogan and husband Tuesday afternoon. Services were conducted by Rev. B.B. Hackley. Interment was made in the family lot in the Lowell cemetery in charge of Weaver and Son.

Outflying the tempest and wind,
Her rest she hath sooner obtained,
And left her dear children behind.
With songs let us follow her flight,
And mount with her spirit above,
Escaped to the Mansion of Light
And lodged in the Eden of Love.
