Miss Gladys Black Is Bride of Elmer Whiting in Pretty Home Ceremony
Miss Gladys Black, daughter of Louis Black, became the bride of Elmer Whiting, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Whiting of Cedar Lake, in a pretty ceremony performed at seven o'clock, Thursday evening, June 26th, at the home of her aunt, Mrs. J.A. Little, East Main Street.Baskets of pink peonies and blue delphinium and tall white tapers in crystal holders formed the setting before which the couple exchanged vows and rings in the impressive rites at which Rev. E.L. Worley officiated. Preceding the service, the bride's aunt, Mrs. J.A. Little, accompanied at the piano by her daughter, Miss Lois Little, sang "I Love You Truly."
The attractive bride chose for her wedding costume a dressmaker suit of navy taffeta, complimented by white accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles Black of Indianapolis, attended as matron of honor, and Mr. Black served the groom as best man.
Sixty-five relatives and close friends were present for the wedding and reception which followed. Refreshments, including a beautifully decorated wedding cake, were served by the bride's aunts, Mrs. Earl Little and Mrs. Melvin Osburn.
The bride, a graduate of Lowell high school and St. Margaret's School of Nursing, Hammond, is employed in the office of Dr. King at Cedar Lake. Her husband, also a graduate of Lowell high school, is an employee of Youngstown Sheet and Tube Mill.
The couple will reside in the former Bruce home at Main and Clark Streets.
