    Honored On 40th Anniversary

Sunday, January 17th marked the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Wood and an open house held in the recreation room of the Lowell Church of Christ honored them on the occasion.

The bride and groom of 40 years ago renewed their marriage vows in an impressive service read by the Reverend J.E. Poer, Mrs. Wood chose Mrs. Ethel (Nichols) Jens of Whiting, a life-long friend, to be her attendant. Mr. Wood's brother, Chester, of Chicago, who was best man at their wedding, again accepted this honor.

Music was provided by Mrs. Robert Heisterberg of Crown Point, who also accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Wood of Hammond as they sang "When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver."

Lifetime residents of the community, Mr. and Mrs. Wood farmed in West Creek Township before moving to Lowell 10 years ago. He is an employee of Hardings, Inc.

The lovely celebration was arranged by the couple's children and their families, Mrs. Harold Fuller, Mrs. Ernest Wilson, and Clayton Wood of Lowell; Wayne Wood and Curtis Wood of Hammond.

Decorations of flowers, candles, bells and streamers carried out the anniversary colors of ruby and white, and red roses trimmed the pretty three-tiered wedding cake.

Approximately 150 guests attended from Lowell, Shelby, Hammond, Crown Point and Whiting, Ind.., and Chicago, Berwyn, Harvey and Grant Park, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Wood were recipients of many congratulatory cards and gifts which they shall always treasure in memory of this most happy event.
