Harriet McQuality Sisson (1832-1911)

- Mrs. Harriet (McQuality) Sisson, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth McQuality, was born in Jackson, Ohio, March 13, 1832. She was married to Elihu A. Sisson October 31, 1859. To this union six children were born, Mrs. James Craft, of Orchard Grove, who preceded her in death thirteen years ago, Mrs. Hedley Wiley, of DuBuque, Iowa, William Sisson, of Lowell, Indiana, Mrs. L. Tateman*, Ellsworth and Walter, Chicago. In the spring of 1882 they moved with their family to Orchard Grove, Ind., where they lived until her husband died in 1894. She then took up her residence with her children, and was with her daughter, Mrs. Wiley, when she died of pneumonia, after a short illness of five days; December 21, 1911, aged 79 years, 9 months and 8 days.
A number of years ago, she made a public confession of Christ as her Savior, and up to the last she testified of her firm faith in her living lord.
The remains arrived here Friday evening and were taken in charge by Funeral Director H.V. Weaver. E. Readon, pastor of the Church of God, in Chicago, preached the funeral discourse. Beautiful and appropriate music was furnished by the Christian church choir, of Lowell.
She was carried to her last resting place by her grand-sons, William Tateman*, Harry Tateman*, Elsworth Wiley, Floyd Sisson, Zelbert Sisson and Cecil Sisson.
Interment took place in the Orchard Grove cemetery.
* NOTE -- The name "Tateman" in this article should really have been "Tatman.
