The following article was found in the Jan. 14, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 8, column 2:
    Howard Mourer, F 2C, naval training station, Michigan City, and Miss Jane Feig, also of Michigan City, spent Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Esther Mourer.

This Lowell Tribune article was found in the July 12, 1945, issue (page 2, columns 1-2):
    S 1/c Howard Mourer and wife were here a short time Saturday, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Burrell Belshaw at dinner. Howard has been aboard a sub chaser, seeing much service overseas since he left the old home town.

This December 27, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 8, column 3:
    Howard Mourer, of Michigan City, was in Lowell last Friday. He is now traveling through this territory for a drug firm. He informed us that he received his discharge from service November 11th.
