James "Jim" Curless, Jr.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the March 23, 1944, issue (page 2, column 2):
- James Curless, aviation student, stationed at Phoenix, Ariz., who suffered a fractured vertebrae while taking gym exercises recently is reported by his wife, the former Ruth Evelyn Edmondson, to be rapidly recovering. The extent of his injury was not as great as first reported and the cast, which covered the upper part of his body, was removed last week.
The following June 29, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:

James Curless, A/C, who has been hospitalized the past several months after suffering an injury while taking gymnasium exercises, and who was recently transferred to a Battle Creek, Mich. hospital, is here accompanied by his wife, visiting their parents, the James Curlesses and Arthur Edmondsons. Jimmy is much improved and it is thought he can soon be discharged from the hospital.The following August 31, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 1, column 6:
- A/C and Mrs. James Curless, Jr., were week-end guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Curless Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Edmondson.
The following November 2, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 4:
- A/C James Curless, Jr., and wife, of Battle Creek, Mich., were here for a week-end visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Curless, Sr., and the Arthur Edmondsons. Jim is taking treatments at a hospital in Battle Creek for injuries sustained several months ago. He is showing much improvement.
The following November 9, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 2:
- A/C James Curless and wife, of Battle Creek, Mich., were here for a week-end visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Curless, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Edmonson.
The following December 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5 column 3:
- Mr. and Mrs. James Curless, Jr., visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.F. Mix, at Quincy, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Hord Maddox at Indianapolis, last Thursday and Friday. Jim has received a medical discharge from the air corps because of an injury received several months ago. He has been taking medical treatments since that time.
