The following article was found in the Jan. 14, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 8, column 2:
    Mrs. Harold McCann and her daughter, Miss Victoria Kuntz, who were called to Camp Seibert, Ala., by the serious illness with pneumonia of their son and brother, Pvt. James Kuntz, returned home last Wednesday, leaving Jim much improved and well on the road to recovery. When Mrs. McCann returned she learned that her other son, Robert, stationed at Sioux Falls, S.D., in an airplane school, had been ill with ptomaine poisoning. Mr. McCann had also been suffering an attack of neuritis and unable to work while she was away.
The following April 8, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 3:

    Transferred to New Bases

    Mrs. Harold McCann has received letters recently from her two sons, Pvt. James J. Kuntz, and Pvt. Robert Kuntz. Jim has been transferred to Camp Bowie, Texas, and Bob, a radio technician, ahs been transferred to a school at Truax Field, Wis.
This July 20, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:

    In Invasion Battles

    Writing his mother, Mrs. Harold McCann, Pfc. James Kuntz says his chemical outfit is in the thick of the invasion fighting, and that he was still O.K. He also sent several pieces of French paper money.
The following September 28, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 3:

    Receives German Uniform

    A German officer's uniform is the gift that Mrs. Harold McCann recently received from her son, Pfc. James Kuntz, who is now with the U.S. forces in France. The coat is olive drab with 8-inch cuffs, two rows of buttons down the front, and is form-fitting. Jim will probably tell his mother and his friends how he obtained it when he gets back home
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the August 2, 1945, issue (page 5, column 4):
    Open house was held by the Harold McCanns last week when all their children except S 1/c Fred McCann, in the Pacific, were able to come home. Sgt. Robert McCann came from Arizona, S/Sgt. Jack McCann and wife from California, Pfc. James Kuntz from overseas, Pfc. Bob Kuntz from the south, and Mrs. Grant Bellinger and husband, came from Walkerton, Ind., to enjoy the occasion.
This November 8, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
    After serving overseas for some time, Pfc. James Kuntz has been discharged from service, arriving home last week end.
