(Mrs. Seymour Kanaar)

A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Dec. 22, 1955, Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Mrs. Jennie Kanaar, 86, Dies At Home of Son

Mrs. Jennie Kanaar, 86, a resident of Lowell for more than 55 years, died Sunday, December 18, at the home of her son, Joseph in Springfield, Ill.

Mrs. Kanaar was born June 16, 1869, in Marshall County, Ind. She was married to Seymour Kanaar in 1898, and soon after, the couple established their home here. Failing health forced her to leave her home here at 202 E. Main Street and reside with her son and family. The only other survivors are nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Memorial services were conducted in the Sheets Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Rev. E.L. Worley officiating. Burial was made in the Lowell cemetery.
