The following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the Nov. 4, 1954, issue of the Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

A little daughter was born on Sunday night, October 31, to Mr. and Mrs. Howard "Cordie" Ragon at Gary Methodist Hospital. The infant weighted nine pounds, four ounces, and has been named Kristy. The Ragons' three year old daughter, Jane, is being cared for by Mrs. Ragon's sister, Mrs. Beverly Dixon of Sister Lakes, Michigan, while her mother is hospitalized.
