L.W. "Dub" Sanger (1841-1903)
- L.W., eldest son of Harvey and Sarah Ann (Bryant) Sanger, was born in Cedar Creek township, Lake county, Indiana, April 25, 1841, and died at his home in Lowell, March 4, 1903, aged 61 years 10 months and 9 days.
His sickness, which was of four years duration, was consumption. During this long period, although at times his suffering was great, he bore it all patiently and with fortitude.
His father, mother, two sisters and two brothers preceded him to the spirit world. February 2, 1875, he was united in marriage with Olive Wiley, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Wiley. To this union five children were born, four of which, Lettie, now Mrs. William Buckley, Nora, Hazel and Annie survive their father, one dying in infancy. In an acquaintance reaching over 35 years, the writer has always found him to be an honorable, upright man, causing him to be very highly respected by those who knew him.
A good man and citizen has gone from among us. His funeral occurred from the M.E. church, Lowell, at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 6th, Rev. D.D. Hoagland conducting the funeral service. Funeral Director Stowell had charge of the burial service. Interment in Orchard Grove cemetery. He leaves his wife, four children, three brothers -- Adna, of Crown Point, David, of Lowell, and Harvey, of Kankakee, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Henry Nusan, of Crown Point, together with a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn his departure to that better land to whom the TRIBUNE extends sincere sympathy in this their hour of deep sorrow and affliction.
