The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:

    A Pleasant Surprise

    A pleasant surprise was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Nolan Wednesday evening, February 3, 1904, in honor of their daughters, the Misses Lena and Sarah, at which there was about 20 guests present. The evening was spent in games and other amusements. At 12 o'clock refreshments were served. At a late hour the guests departed for their homes, each one thinking they had spent a very enjoyable evening. Those present were:

    Misses Blanche Childers, Sylvia Schmal, Lena Nolan, Flora Beebe, Millie Chipman, Sarah Nolan, Bertha Schmal, Mande Childers, Edith Chipman, Alice Beebe, Tillie Nolan, Hallie Edmonds, Annie Nolan.

    Messrs. Willie Ribbentrop, Nelson Howard, Albert Chipman, Bennie Hay___, Lysle Loverin, Otto Childers, ___________, Frank Huseman . . . [The rest of the article had crumbled away.]
