Leopold "Leo" Bixenman

A copy of the following newspaper article, hand-identified as being from the April 1, 1956, Post Tribune, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

    Leopold Bixenman, Retired Farmer, Dies

    Leopold "Leo" Bixenman, 75, a retired West Creek farmer, passed away at his home on April 3rd. Mr. Bixenman had been in poor health all winter.

    Mr. Bixenman was an active Gleaner and member of the Lowell Methodist church. The Bixemans have long been prominent citizens of southern Lake County.

    Memorial services were conducted in the Sheets Funeral Home at 2 p.m. last Thursday, with Rev. Harold Hotchkiss officiating. Interment was made in the German Methodist cemetery, north of Lowell on U.S. 41.

    Survivors include his wife, May (Miller) Bixenman; a son, Nelson, of Lowell; a brother, Arthur of Beecher, Ill.; and twp sisters, Mrs. John Miller of Lowell and Mrs. Henrietta Becker of Crown Point.
