SERGT. LESLIE VINNEDGE MARRIES GARY GIRL
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph McNabney of Gary announce the marriage of their daughter Cora to Sergt. Leslie Vinnedge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Vinnedge, rural route 1, Crown Point, in First Evangelical and Reformed church, Gary, March 24. The Rev. James Johnson read the service for the wedding, for which the Sergeant and his bride were attended by Miss Doris Richardson and her brother Harold.The bride was gowned in white crepe, the maid of honor in pink. White gardenias made the bridal bouquet.
Sergeant and Mrs. Vinnedge took no honeymoon trip because her employment in essential industry at Gary armor plate plant allowed her only her wedding day "off". Leslie left Tuesday, end of his furlough, for his station at Amarillo, Texas, where he had been for most of the time since his induction in August, 1941.-Lake County Star.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the July 26, 1945, issue (page 2, column 1):
- A recent letter received by the Calvin Vinnedges from their son, Pvt. Robert M. Vinnedge, said he was still stationed in Germany. Their other son, S/Sgt. Leslie, is still in the Panama Canal zone. Both boys are feeling fine.
