This December 30, 1926, Lowell Tribune article appeared on page 1, column 2:
AGED LADY PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Louisa Livingston, one of [the] oldest residents of West Creek township and one of our most highly respected citizens, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Sauer, Monday morning. Funeral services will be held at the M.E. church in Lowell today at 10:30 a.m. Obituary next week.The following January 6, 1927, Lowell Tribune obituary appeared on page 4, column 2:
- Louisa Ritter Livingston, youngest of seven children born to Abraham and Nancy Foster Ritter, was born in Richland county, Ohio, June 28, 1848, and departed this life early Monday, Dec. 27, 1926, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter Sauer, at Klaasville, Ind., at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 29 days.
She came to Indiana with her parents in the year 1854 in a covered wagon, settling on the farm where she has made her home all her life with the exception of two years; one year at Hobart, Ind., and one year in Nebraska.
In early life she was a member of West Creek M.E. church, later transferring her membership to the Lowell M.E. church, where she has been a faithful member till her death.
She was married June 28, 1870, to Andrew Livingston, who departed this life in October 1905.
To this union was born five children -- Mrs. Bessie Sauer, of Klaasville, Ind.; Mrs. Emma Hilzley, of Lowell; Ernest, of Hammond; George, who resides on the old home place; and Mrs. Alice Batterman, of Leroy.
She leaves five children, twenty grand children, besides many other relatives and friends who are left to mourn the passing of a dear and faithful mother and grandmother.
All that loving hands could do was done to relieve her during her illness, but the Angel of Death came to relieve her of her earthly suffering, calling her to her Heavenly home where there is no sorrow or pain.
Rev. A.E. Dougherty preached the funeral sermon at the M.E. [church] in Lowell. Her grand sons acted as pall bearers. The floral offerings were beautiful. The remains were laid to rest at West Creek cemetery beside her parents, brother and sisters who have preceded her in death. Undertakers Weaver and Son had charge of the burial service.
