The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:

Max Thompson, 47, Dies at Mesa, Arizona

A telegram received Friday morning by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayden and Charles Palmer informed them of the death of Max Thompson, 47, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvie J. Thompson, of Mesa, Arizona. A bank cashier at Mesa, Max had been ill for many weeks due to cancer. Funeral services were held Monday, November 1, at Mesa.

Well known here, the senior Mr. Thompson is a brother of the late Alice Eilerman, who passed away two weeks ago, also a nephew of Charles Palmer. All are members of Southern Lake Co.'s illustrious Obadiah Taylor family, born and reared at Creston.

The Thompsons moved to Arizona from Lafayette two years ago.

Besides his parents and wife, Max is survived by a daughter, Mary, and two step-sons.
