The following item was found under the heading "Old Time News -- Lowell Star -- September 4, 1875" in the July 3, 1924, Lowell Tribune (page 1, column 1):
    Melvin Edmonds had passed away at the home of his son, Nelson Edmonds in West Creek township. He was 63 years of age and was only sick a few days. He left a wife and several children. Burial was made in the West Creek cemetery.

* NOTE -- Although it would appear, according to the date of this article, that Mr. Edmonds died in 1875, his wife's obituary lists him as having died in Sept. 1876.
