Noah Edgar Clark (1859-1943)
- Mrs. Ray Clark of Akley, Minn., arrived last night to attend the funeral of N.E. Clark.
This obituary was found in the March 18, 1943, Lowell Tribune on page 4, column 2:
- Noah Edgar Clark was born in Missouri, April 14, 1859 and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Hilzley, in Lowell, on March 8th, lacking but one month of reaching his 84th birthday. His father, a member of the Union army in the Civil War, met death on the battlefield when the deceased was 5 years old. The mother then brought her little family back to the former home in Indiana, where her relatives lived.
When a young man he went to Nebraska, taking up a government claim. He was married to Miss Lillian Hale at Berwyn, Nebraska, Feb. 14, 1886. To this union eleven children were born, three dying in infancy. While a resident of Nebraska he became a member of the Church of God.
In 1898 the family became residents of Lowell, which has since been his home. For 23 years he was janitor of the Lowell grade school, retiring from that position in 1928.
His wife passed away 12 years ago, and the eldest daughter, Mrs. Goldie Christie, passed away five years ago.
He leaves to mourn his passing, seven children: three daughters, Miss Harriet Clark and Mrs. Harry Hilzley, Lowell, and Mrs. Lawson Williams, of St. John; four sons: Clifford of Minneapolis, Minn., Ray of Akley, Minn., Virgil, of Plymouth, Ind., and Edgar of Morehead, Minn.; also 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, March 19th, in charge of Marshall N. Weaver, minister. Internment was made in Lowell cemetery beside his wife. The following acted as pall-bearers: Edwin Hough, Carl Kaiser, Floyd Hale, John Gerner, Jr., Glen Stretch and Thorne Clark.
