The Lowell Star, Aug. 17, 1872, page 5, column 3, had a list of soldiers who were supporters of Grant in that election. Among them was P.A. McNey of the 73rd Ind. Inf. This is probably the same man as the P.A. McNay listed on the Three Creeks Monument, but with a variant spelling of the last name.
The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
Some Bad Falls
Last Thursday P.A. McNay and Agent Frank Maloy were scuffling near the McNay coal office, when Mr. McNay slipped and fell, spraining his ankle so badly that he has not been able to walk on it since.The same day Mrs. Cagwin slipped on the side walk and fell, spraining her ankle badly. She has not been able to be out since.
