This Lowell Tribune article, found in the July 5, 1945, issue (page 1, column 5) lists four boys from the Lowell area as going into the army:

FOUR MORE LOCAL BOYS INDUCTED INTO SERVICE

Among the inductees from Local Board No. 1, Crown Point, going into service June 22, were Richard L. Alm, Lowell; Robert Clayton Doty, Shelby; Roy WIlliam Surprise and Donald Richard Dickerson of Cedar Creek.
